Hair, skin and hemp oil?

October 25, 2021 2 min read

Move over argan and coconut oil, there’s a new head of hair health, hemp oil!

Don’t get excited about it being anything other than fantastic oil. It is not the same as hash oil, a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) containing oil made from the cannabis flower, used for its medicinal qualities.

Hemp oil is obtained by pressing hemp seeds and manufactured from varieties of Cannabis sativa that do not contain significant amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol.

Hemp oil contains 80% essential fatty acids, which is the highest in any plant on the planet. How fantastic is that? It’s no wonder our hair and skin thrive on the stuff! It has Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids which are necessary for stimulating hair growth.

Our hair is mainly protein, so it needs a good supply of the nutrient in order to maintain overall strength and beauty. Hemp oil protein has emollient properties that maintain moisture condition, hence stronger more resilient hair follicles.

Hemp oil contains gamma-linoleic acid, which improves the condition of hair and contributes to keratin formation for stronger and healthier hair. Softer, hydrated hair is stronger than dry, brittle hair and the hemp oil in your enviro Silicone Free Shampoo & Conditioner is contributing to shoring up the intercellular matrix, which protects hair from moisture loss. The lipids present in hemp oil increase hair’s elasticity, volume and shine while softening the strands from the Vit E and Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids. It’s a holistic approach to healthy hair!

The use of hemp oil in hair products such as envirocare Silicone Free Shampoo, Silicone Free Hair Conditioner and Silicone Free Intensive Hair Treatment and skin care is expected to increase as the benefits and accessibility of hemp oil become more obvious. Keep your eyes peeled for more hemp inclusive formulas soon!
